The next issue of Service News Worldwide could feature your service! Written submissions are often accepted by Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP). Founded in 2001, ICP is a non-profit social change organization that provides expertise, ideas, information, research, and advocacy in the United States and around the world. ICP aims to develop and strengthen policies and programs that promote civic engagement through service.
ICP is encouraging the service community to contribute to the discussion. It would be especially powerful if young people themselves tell about their involvement in youth service. After collecting quality submissions, ICP will produce a short publication with this sole feature.
Part of the inspiration for encouraging students to share their service comes from the World Development Report (WDR), an annual World Bank publication that examines the state of the world from different angles. It’s one of the most influential publications about development. The WDR periodically focuses on young people (ages 12-24) and their contribution to developing their countries. The World Bank is currently seeking input. This is an important opportunity to tell them about the power of youth service!
